Germany played a three-game exhibition series against Great Britain to finish up training camp in Heidenheim over the weekend. In Stuttgart on Friday, pitchers Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez, Rodney Gessmann, Nils Hartkopf and Eugen Heilmann led the team to a 5-1 victory. One day later the series moved to Heidenheim with Germany completing the sweep over the weekend with scores of 12-1 and 7-5. Simon Guehring set the highlight on Saturday with a homerun. On Sunday Germany turned an early 0-5 deficit into a win. Pitchers Benedikt Antwi and Jens Cornelsen were hit hard and were cut from the Baseball World Cup team after the match.
The 24-man roster will travel to Regensburg on Monday and will hold their first practice at the Armin Wolf Arena on the afternoon. They will open the tournament on Wednesday at 7pm CET against China.
